Gardening This and That

In the December 2014 issue of Turf Magazine, I came across some items that may be of interest to you:

Weed control – Instead of using dangerous pesticides to kill weeds, a new technique has emerged, which kills weeds by exposing them to compressed C02 gas.  The company (Arctic Inc.), that developed this procedure, reported that it successfully killed a variety of weeds, including some of the more challenging ones such as dallisgrass.  Will it work on all weeds and work for homeowners – time will tell, but I’ll keep you posted as I learn more.

Sedges – Many homeowners complain about sedges showing up in their lawns, which is usually due to over watering or poor drainage.  Would you believe that one sedge tuber can become 6,900 new tubers?  Wow!
